Quartz is perhaps the most well-known crystal, but only one location in the world produces what are called "diamond" crystals - Herkimer Co, New York, USA. Because of this, they're called "Herkimer Diamond" Quartz, or sometimes "Herkimer Quartz Diamonds." Take a look around , though. There are hundreds that are 2-4cm tall. There are tons of groupings of these crystals too, 99%+ of which have been reassembled after mining. This is a singular Herkimer and it is nearly 4" in length - 9.3cm. It's... HUGE. All of the faces are (amazingly) intact and the light shines through it prismatically from many angles.
I purchased this from the Arkenstone some time ago - a top 10 mineral dealer in the world. If you're a fan of quartz, especially Herkimers, or even just a collector of USA minerals, this is a must have!
