ACQUIRED FROM A PRIVATE MUSEUM COLLECTION.
FASHIONED OF A HANDMADE DUCHESS BOBBIN LACE WITH LARGE AND SMALL FLORALS AND RICH SCROLLING. THE CENTER REAR BACK IN A STRIP OF LACE WHERE THE COAT BECOMES MORE FULL AND FLOWING FROM THAT POINT.
THE SLEEVES ARE IN LARGE FLOWING BELL FASHION. THE NECKLINE IS TRIMMED AND A HANDMADE LINEN LACE.
THERE ARE NO CLOSURES.
THE CRAFTSMANSHIP IN THIS PIECE IS EXCEPTIONAL, IT MOST LIKELY TOOK IN THE RANGE OF 6-8 YEARS TO CREATE. THIS PIECE SOLD FOR MORE THAN DOUBLE MY STARTING PRICE BACK IN THE LATE 1990’S FROM AN ANTIQUE CLOTHING SITE. CONDITION: LIGHT MINOR AGE COLOR IS VERY FAINT. THERE IS ONE THUMBPRINT OF A LIGHTER HANDMADE LACE FROM WHAT I THINK MAY HAVE BEEN A CATCH. IT IS HARD TO NOTE AS IT IS ON THE BOTTOM SIDE.
