Mexico or New Spain, 4 page edict by King Charles III published by Viceroy Bucareli, 31cms x 21cms, very fine condition.

On a ship in Peru seré found buttons made to resemble coins made of shiny metal. The ship caen from Cádiz, Spain.

The edict prohibits the manufacture and sale of these buttons as uneducated people could be tricked to accept them as coins. All such buttons are to be confiscated and heavy penalties instaurated for manufacturers and sellers of the buttons.

The buttons were made to look as the Columnarias coins, showing two worlds and columns.
