Rare Coors Golden Malted Milk tin manufactured byAdolph Coors Company, Golden-Denver, Colorado.This is the largest size that Coors made (14” x 9” x 9”) and would have originallyheld 25 pounds of malted milk powder. Thetin is in virtually mint condition with a couple of tiny (tiny) paint chips onone side and two small areas of surface rust along the bottom rim on one side. Thereare also some areas of light surface rust on the bottom of the tin (likely frombeing stored in its original shipping box).The tin has bright glossy surfaces and vibrant colors and displaysbeautifully. The tin is marked “A. Can Co. 70A” in tiny letters on one sideindicating that the tin was lithographed by the American Can Company’s Factory 70A.Amazingly, the tin has been beautifully preserved for the past 100 years insideits original shipping box/carton. The box is has identical printed information onthree sides as seen in photos and is in very good condition aside from thebottom flaps which show signs of water exposure and are intact but no longerclosed (the original reinforced tape holding the two flaps together istorn). One side of the box also has theword “Wheat” written in magic marker so perhaps the tin was used to store wheatat some point (although based on its virtually mint condition, it seemsunlikely that the tin was reused at all). The tin fits snugly inside the box.An outstanding example of this early advertising tin from Colorado’s best-knowncompany, this example would be hard to improve upon.
