The Rue de Metz is a street in the commune of Nancy,in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in north-eastern France. It takes its name from the Moselle city. The Rue de Metz, of a general north-southdirection, is located in the north of the communal territory of Nancy,near Maxeville and connects the Port Desilles and the CoursLeopold to the south, at the northern limit of Nancy, at the borderwith Maxeville where the street continues as “Route de Metz”,which follows the route of the former RN 57.

The street was created in 1787 to form thenew road to Metz, instead of that of the Faubourg des Trois-Maisonswhich passed under the gates of the Ville Vielle. The rue de Metz was first Called “ruedu Petit-Village”, then in 1828, “rue de Boudonville” and wasofficially named “rue de Metz” in 1873.

This card captures “Nancy –Rue de Metz” and is postmarked 1905.It is in good conditionwith a small bent lower left corner but just minor wear overall. The image of the Rue de Metz” with atwo-car streetcar, people on the street and an era auto down the street. The reverse is addressed and clean.
