Here is an old cabinet card photo of men loading logs from cut down trees onto train cars. There is a wagon pulled by mules or horses full of logs standing by two train cars with 4 men standing on them ready to load the logs. There is also a pile of the logs by the train. One train car is marked D. L. & W. which stands for Delaware Lackawanna & Western Railroad, the other train is marked P & R, which stands for Philadelphia and Reading RR. The photographer was P. W. Gerhart Jr. of Wernersville, PA. Wernersville is in Berks County, Pennsylvania and the train tracks go right through town. I am guessing that since the photographer was from Wernersville that it is probable that the photo was taken in or near there. Unfortunately, there are no dates on the photo and no names identifying the men in the photo or an exact place.The photo is nice, does have some marks from age and storage, the cardboard the photo is mounted on has rough spots on the edges and corners. An interesting old photo, great research project for the local historian. Postage will be 4.75 to the U. S.IF OUTSIDE THE U.
