Offered is a vintage piece of Western America, InterurbanRailroad History, a rare Peninsular Railroad Lanternwith a Signal Red Lantern Globe. The lantern frame is a 3-piece topAdlake “Reliable,” single wire guard, drop in fount style and is embossed onthe dome “PEN RY.” The frame is in excellent condition, clean metal, originaltinning on the cage, stands straight and has no holes, major dents, bends,broken or missing parts. The last patent date embossed on the shoulder of thelid is 1923. It comes with a threaded fount and brass Adlake 1909 patented burner(takes a 7/8” wick). The fount & burner are fully functional, the wickeasily moves up and down when the adjuster is turned the fount would hold fueland burn if desired. The Signal Red Lantern Globe is in excellent condition andis free of chips, cracks, scratches, or cloudiness. There are no markings onthe globe. The globe may have the usual minor rim nicks from use on therailroad that will not show when seated in the lantern frame. The PeninsularRailway was a 91-mile interurban electric railway, located in Santa ClaraCounty, California that operated from 1906-1934. It was controlled for most ofits existence by the Southern Pacific Co. It served the area between San Jose,Los Gatos and Palo Alto comprising much of what is today’s Silicon Valley.Shipping is $35.00 for USPS Insured Ground Advantage with the globe packedseparately to insure safe shipment.
