This is for the tested soldered board, battery lead, tube valves and leads for external meters.The board can be used as a stand alone device or used in conjunction with external meters or switching circuits.
The circuit responds to positive and negative static charges in the atmosphere. This may be a build up of negative or positively charged particles or lightning storms. The strength of the LED illuminating the tube valves indicates the strength of the force. The valves XB1's are acting as the two antennas for the circuits, they can be removed and external aerials connected to the aerial connecting terminals on the board.
Two sockets on the board are across the LED,s. This allows two variable voltage outputs to be monitored on other devices. The signal magnitude is in the order of a few volts and can be used to drive moving coil meters, opto isolators or experimental devices. This opens the device up to experimentation on how best to display the received signals.
It is also possible to connect longer aerials for external monitoring, again some experimentation is required to obtain optimum results.Fitting the circuit in a metal box can shield the circuit from local static when used with external aerials.
The board comes with instructions and circuit diagram.
The board will help detect naturally-occurring levels of negative ions and/or positive ions outdoors, such as enhanced levels due to winds,thunderstorms(even in the distance), or other natural air ion sources.
