Pre-WWI M1874 French Gras Bayonet with Scabbard. Ricasso is marked with two French stamps, the spine has French script on it including "1879". The quillon area has three more marks, the underside of the crossguard has a couple more, the front of the crossguard has "N 85485, and the groove has a few more marks, review all pics. The blade is close to mint, straight, unsharpened, no nicks, no age spots, no rust, and has a few small spots of dried oil that could clean up. Push button is functional.The scabbard has "N 85485" on the hanger mount, the edge has an "M", the ball finial has a "2" and an "M" in a circle. The scabbard is solid with few small freckles of pitting. Length of the blade measures 20 5/8" (13/16" wide x 7/16" thick spine), length of the bayonet is 25 3/8", and in the scabbard it is 25 15/16".
