These common red, white and purple opal specimens are mined in Nevada. This material is gorgeous! It is also very solid fine grain material excellent for lapidary cutting and polishing. It literally took me 2 years for the mine owner to be able to mine more material for me. The mine is covered in snow and frozen 6 months of the year.
