This listing is for a RARE FAMILY OF EVELYN NESBIT Antique Photos Cabinet Cards Tintypes PA HUGE LOT all from the same local Family of hers. This lot was sourced in Butler PA, and spans FOUR Albums- an impressive lot! Included are 4 photo albums, full of over 117 tintypes, cabinet cards, and other antique photographs spanning the 1870s-turn of the century. This lot is especially interesting because it is the family of the famed EVELYN NESBIT THAW, who was actually born in Allegheny City, across the river from Pittsburgh PA (now Pittsburghs north side). As far as I know, this is the only lot of photos like this, and these as far as I know are the only copies left in existence! Her family moved to New York after her father died and left them penniless. There she found fame, and many suitors. She was known worldwide for her beauty, and even was one of Charles Gibsons first “Gibson Girls”! She eventually married millionaire Harry Thaw, an ill-tempered man, who was jealous of her suitors favor. One of her most notorious suitors was renowned architect Stanford White - who fans of the HBO show “The Gilded Age” will no doubt remember. In the “Crime of the Century” things came to a head, and Thaw murdered White on top of the Madison Square Garden theatre which White himself had ironically designed. This crime also gained worldwide coverage.

Unlike most albums, a large portion of these photos are not only NAMED, but they also have the persons birth / death dates, and in many cases burial locations, spouses, and other additional info! There are also Wills & Last testaments for the Huegey Branch of the family, receipts from the Tarentum PA Buick Dealer for oil well earnings, and hand written cemetery plot deeds. Many also have the gallery where they were taken, most were in Tarentum, Butler, Pittsburgh, and Allegheny City. There are mountain doctors who used horse & buggy’s, and other semi prominent local figures also featured in this fascinating family tree!

It provides an interesting comprehensive look at the history of the area, its people, and even fashion. Last names of the family include;NESBIT (Evelyn Nesbit Thaws branch and her more direct relatives), Hueghey / Huey, Voegler / Vogeler, Walter, Hames, and more. All these family names make up the branches of a single family tree! The collection is excellent for many rooms and a large variety of decor styles. Great for framing together/ individually, art projects, historical societies, collectors, and more. It makes this an excellent staple set for your collection, one your friends definitely won’t have! It is a lot in good condition overall , with no major damage. No major stains or fading -Various good conditions- see photos. Albums are in various states of wear, as expected. The larger leather covered one has a loose cover & title pages. I have not removed any photos from the albums- come completely as found, un separated out, uncleaned unrestored.
