DESCRIPTION:Offered for your review and consideration is this recently discovered and in absolutely original condition, raremid-19th century American antique intricately scrolled flat stock iron ribbon trivet, standing on three padded feet. It features original charcoal black paint, once darker black paint, and completely original flat, matte iron surfaces, with only minor oxidation and slight episodes of rust. It was found covered in dust, silt and cobwebs in an estate, where it was largely kept dry over the years, since it was discarded and relegated to the barn when it fell out of favor in the kitchen by its owner. It doesn\'t suffer from any breaks or even loosened, broken welds. The welds fastening the iron ribbon together are quite primitive and indicate the piece was most likely fashioned just before or shortly after the conclusion of the US Civil War(1861-1864) and was probably made for domestic consumption at the onset of the American industrial revolution. Mid-19th centuryAmerican Victorian splendor. Absolutely terrific. Estate fresh. New to the marketplace and completely untouched. A great mid-19th century American cultural artifact.
