I love this set: bookends of colorful stained glass windows in a floral-shaped design.
Rather than using them as bookends (which requires them to be placed sideways), I would use them as stand-alone decorative pieces to grace mantel, desk or side table. That way, you can enjoy the colors and design front-on.Unusual construction, like a picture frame. Glass painted with the design is inserted from the back, held in place by a plate which is secured by 4 screws. I unscrewed one back plate and provide pics of what is found, though I refrained from disturbing the inserts themselves.
Cast iron (yes, a magnet sticks) by Bradley Hubbard, their customary logo found inside, rather than on the back. See pic. Ca. 1925.
Condition is almost perfect. No damage to the metal, barely any nicks or dings along the edges of the bases. Glass insert is original (sometimes you find replacements) with nothing marring the colors. Finish of the metal itself is flawless. Screws are original, as are felts. Both pieces sit flat and stable.
6 inches tall to the tops of the finials; 4 1/2 inches wide; 2 1/2 inches front to back. Combined weight is just shy of 5 3/4 pounds.
