The Red Skull was created by cartoonists Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. His first appearance was in Captain America comics #7, October, 1941 for Timely Comics.
Originally portrayed as a Nazi agent and protégé of Adolf Hitler during World War II, the Red Skull has endured as the archenemy of the superhero Captain America.
