Up for sale is a rare slave registration document from 1871, measuring 7 1/2 x 12 inches, for a slave named Garado. Brazil imported more enslaved Africans than any other country in the world with 5.5 million brought to Brazil between the 1540s and the 1860s. Sugar was the primary export of the colony from 1600 to 1650. Gold and diamond deposits were discovered in Brazil in 1690, which increased the slave trade. Brazil became the last nation in the Western Hemisphere to abolish slavery in May of 1888. Free domestic shipping.
