Robert Wadlow
The tallest person in recorded history for whom there is irrefutable evidence (1918-1940). Wadlow's height was 8 ft 11.1 in (2.72 m), while his weight reached 439 lb (199 kg) at his death at the age of 22. His great size and his continued growth in adulthood were due to hypertrophy of his pituitary gland, which results in an abnormally high level of human growth hormone.
Vintage photo postcard of Robert Wadlow, well over 8 feet in height, standing next to his average-sized father, signed on reverse in pencil. Collect notation dates the signature to July 30, 1938 at Cheyenne Frontier Days Stadium in Wyoming.
Circular stain under the signature, and some mild generalized creasing more pronounced on the front.
