Rosenthal Bavarian Handpainted Porcelain Dresser Set (#71-5) Description

This is a wonderful four piece Rosenthal Bavarian porcelain dresser set. Our research indicates the pieces were made in Germany in the early 1920\'s (most likely around 1922). The beautiful hand painted purple violets, leaves and stems are delicately portrayed on a white/yellow mottled background. Gold gilt is prominent on the rims/edges of these pieces. This is a collection consisting of a large dresser tray marked \"Rosenthal Donatello Bavaria\" with the initials \"JH\" which may be the artist\'s. The set also includes a smaller pin tray marked \"Rosenthal Selb Bavaria Botticelli\". The covered powder bowl is marked \"Bavaria\". The lid has a gold gilt \"button\" finial on top. The hair receiver is marked \"Favorite Bavaria\" in script and also has the initials \"JH\". While this may not be a designated production dresser set, the previous owner did an exceptional job in insuring the pieces match beautifully and this set would be a great addition to any dresser or vanity.

Dimensions/size:Large tray – approximately 12\" long, 8\" wide, 5/8\" high, Pin tray – approximately 4 7/8\" long, 3 3/8\" wide, ½\" high, Powder bowl – approximately 3\" high, 4\" in diameter, Hair receiver – 2 ¾\" high, 4\" in diameter. Total collection weight – 2 lbs. 5 oz.

Condition: We could not find any cracks, chips or other noticeable damage to any of the pieces. There is some very slight wear to the gold gilt and few small normal porcelain defects but none diminish the beauty of these pieces.

The Amazing Grace on store was opened to assist us in selling the rather extensive estate of a friend\'s mother that we have \"inherited\". Sally collected a variety of things for many years and 95% of the over 1,200 treasures have been in storage for the last 20 years or more. From depression glass to Asian porcelain and carvings to Native American turquiose & silver jewelry, Sally was a very accomplished collector and even had numerous reference books that accompanied her collections.
