Searsportis an incorporated town and deep-waterseaport located at the confluence of thePenobscotRiverestuaryandPenobscot Bay, immediately northwest ofSears IslandandCapeJellisoninWaldo County, Maine. The population was2,649 at the 2020 census. Searsport included the village ofNorthSearsport. The town is known as “the home of the famous seacaptains” and the “Antique Captial of Maine.It wassettled in the 1760s and incorporated in 1845, from portions ofProspectandBelfast.With an excellent sheltered anchorage, it is known for its rich maritimehistory. During the 19th century the port had 17 shipyards and built 200ships. This is a Real Photo card with a view “Along the Shore,Searsport”, postmarked 1944. It isin good condition with a cancellation imprint through to the front and anothercrease upper middle. Neither detract and the card shows minor wearoverall. The image is clean and clear. Thereis a short message on the reverse which is clean.
