F.D. on top of medal, Back of medal is plain, which works for those whom may want to have it engraved to personalize this medal for their someone special. MEDAL IS SILVER OXIDIZED, 1\"medal, with 24\" ENDLESS (Stainless meaning no clasp) Steel Chain. i am having extreme difficulties with the listings for St. Florian medals with today! THIS IS NOT STERLING SILVER especially AT THIS PRICE. IT IS SILVER OXIDIZED. BUT I DO HAVE 3 ST. FLORIANS IN STERLING SILVER LISTED IN THAT CATEGORY. (hopefully will get this straightened out)This particular medal is different from the rest. A very nice gentleman from enlightened me about the shape. It is actually the St. Florian Cross. It is the cross used in ancient Rome by St. Florian himself who is widely recognized as the father of fire fighers. Not to be confused with the Maltese cross. Now that I look closely I absolutely see the shape of a cross. Never know what we can still learn day to day! My sincerest thanks to my rescuer!
