The Special Air Service began its existenceas a commando unit operating in the north African desert during WWII. It hassubsequently evolved into one of the most elite special force units in theworld, specializing in anti terrorist and counter insurgency operations.

This insignia is embroidered in cotton ondark blue wool. The badge is cut to shape and has a bucrom type backing. It is worn on the distinctive sand coloured beret of the S.A.S. It measures 40mm x 65mm.
