Somdej Kaiser history King Rama 5thvisited Europe for the first time. in B.E2440. During that visit he met King William Kaiser of Germany . The king of Germany noticed and showed interest in an amulet which the Thai King was carrying. It was a Phra Somdej Puttajarn ( Toh ) Wat Rakhang amulet. The King of Thailand gave this amulet as a gift to the German King. The list of material used in the creation of this amulet is quite incredible in itself. It took 25 years to collect all the materials and the consecration ceremonies took 3 years to complete. In addition to powder and materials traditionally used to make Phra Somdej amulets, powder and materials from old Phra Somdej amulets and ruins of Phra Somdej Phuttacharn Toh, Wat Rakhang Khositaram, Wat Chaiyo Woravihara, Wat Mai Amataros , Wat Indraviharn, as well as materials from various underground sacred cells and holy places since Chiang Saen, Sukhothai, Sri Satchanalai, U Thong, Lopburi, Ayutthaya, Rattanakosin periods and 199 kinds of sacred soil from overseas religious places. The materials have been blended and consecrated for a total of 9 consecration ceremonies chaired by the Supreme Patriach, Somdej Phra Sangharaj Nyanasamvara, and by 99 senior Buddhist monks. It took 25 years to collect all the materials and the consecration ceremonies took 3 years to complete.
