After the World War II, Berchtesgaden became a military zoneand most of its buildings were requisitioned by the U.S. Army. It served as anintegral part of the U.S. Armed Forces Recreation Center for the duration ofthe Cold War and thereafter. In 1995, fifty years after the end of World War IIand five years after Germany Reunification, Berchtesgaden was turned over toBavarian authorities to facilitate military spending reductions mandated withinthe Base Realignment and Closure program by Congress. These mugs were soldas souvenirs, made by K.u.F., and because of the imprinted West Germany Stampwere made before 1990 Germany Reunification. They are over 34 years old, in great condition,Decal on one looks faded. No cracks,chips or repairs. They would make great gifts for a Servicemember who wasstationed during that time period in Germany or for military collectors. Dimensions:H: 5-1/8”; Dia. (minus handle): 4”.
