This candy container is quite scarce, as it was made in GDR - East Germany, during the years when it was behind the "Iron Curtain". East Germany was controlled by Russia after WWII, and it was very repressive. Not a lot of toy making went on, and the ones that were made were very seldom shipped to the West. Expertic is one of the most famous of the Erzgebirge toy and candy container makers. They made a huge amount of small wooden figures. This piece is fairly plain, a simple container made of shaved wood with a design on the front that looks like some of the Eastern European designs like those from Ukraine and Poland. The little box is tight and clean, and measures about 4" across. It is an Easter container, I think, because of the eggs.
