This incredible high end 2 piece late 1800s Victorian hand painted porcelain domed hand mirror depicts a maiden adored by a cherub dreaming under a tree on a beautiful summer day. The pristine oval natural bristle brush depicts several maidens bathing in a seemingly secluded stream.

What distinguishes this 2 piece set apart from the typical antique set is the high relief gold brush work on both pieces and the exquisite gold metal filigree along the borders. Note the red and gold hatch check detail within the high relief gold detail which suggests the Sevres style craftsmanship. The G. Silver marked repousse handles features art nouveau styling.

Specifications

Mirror- 5 1/4” wide by 9 1/2 “ long weight ~ 15 ozs

Brush- 2 1/2” wide by 8 1/2 “ long weight ~ 5 ozs

Both the mirror and brush have screws at the end of the handles which allow the mirror to be replaced if need be and the natural bristle brush head should it become overly splayed. The screws also allows the handles to be tighten if need be.

Condition

As shown in the photos there appears to be minimal wear on this set from the late 1800s. Only the grips on the handles exhibit use. The brush appears to have been never used. The mirror is beveled and has two tiny ~ 1/4” light scratches. No clouding whatsoever.

The Victorian, gold tone metal tray is Not Included.
