A lovely vintage/antique example, with minor scuffing and light stains as expected for its age. Has an unexplained mystery pair of tiny pinholes on the bottom, origin unknown. ~See last two photos~

It measures 9\" diameter including snail curl decoration 4\" tall to Basket rim and 8.5\" high including movable handle.

This is a wonderful, medium sized Porcupine curls or Snail Curlicue Woven Basket in the style of the Kolásihkawələpəna (Penobscot tribe) of Maine.   It\'s made of split ash and its twisting technique was developed in about 1860. Splint basketry, especially constructed from the versatile brown ash,  is central to their cultural and spiritual life.
