\"Faith\" \"Hope\" and \"Love\" are intricately cast into the center band and the pen top features attractive cross designs. The Cross on the tips and clips are reference to the Fleur-de-lis. In the Middle Ages the symbols of lily and Fleur-de-lis overlapped considerably in Christian religious art. The three petals of the heraldic design reflect a widespread association with the Holy Trinity. Here we are using the three to symbolize the virtues of Faith, Hope and Love. The braided rope detail reinforces the concept of trinity, with a braided rope being made from three separate stands into something much stronger. Smooth writing performance with a Parker style refill. Plus, the Antique Pewter finish is formulated to simulate the sophisticated sheen of time-worn pewter. The authentic patina and natural darkening brings out the details of the finish and creates a unique feel with a charm all its own as it adds a sense of warmth to your to your handmade pen.
Carob is a dense and durable hardwood that reveals multiple colors, such as tan, red, rust, orange, brown, dark brown and chocolate. The wood is close grained and finishes well, especially when buffed using compounds. Still, due to the downside of debris from the large seedpods, flowers, and fruit , carob is not pushed by nurseries and is, therefore, not as readily available as other urban lumber species. This makes it a rarer species to come by compared to other types of lumber. The scarcity and durability of Carob makes it a highly sought after species for woodworkers.
As a world renowned artisan, I was able to form this fine writing instrument through a painstaking process that involved several hours and stages in order to present a finely polished work of art. Each blank was measured and drilled before inserting a brass tube. They were then trued on each end before being placed on my Rikon midi-lathe for the shaping using various chisels. When the desired shape was achieved I then took them through a multi-stage sanding process finishing with nine steps of micro-mesh, followed by a three step polishing with Aussie Oil resulting in a glass like finish.
