Up for Consideration is a Rare Original (1800-1813) Napoleonic 1st Empire French Army General Division Officer's Coat - Marked "BONAPARTE"

c1790-1813

A RARE FRENCH NAPOLEONIC ARMY GENERAL OFFICER'S COAT (L'HABIT DE GRAND UNIFORME D'OFFICIER GENERAL) c.1790-1815, dark blue wool with extensive gilt metal broderie. This original Generals Officers Coat is in poor but very restorable condition with several moth holes, tears, loose threads and sadly missing all the gilt brass buttons. We purchased this including other authentic French Napoleonic Military artifacts from a defunct History Museum in Phoenix Arizona including a Napoleon Bonaparte marked trunk. We were told that this collection came from an Estate in New Jersey and once owned by Joseph Bonaparte who brought it to America as a souvenir of his Brother, General Napoleon Bonaparte himself. Although marked Bonaparte on the inside lining, we have no actual proof of this.
The coat measures 44.5 inches long with a 19.0 inch shoulder and 23.5 inch arms.
