Click images to enlarge Description This is an ORIGINAL and RARE KRIEGSMARINE (German Navy) wristwatch, as issued to officers and other personnel who required a personal timepiece during WWII. According to Ulric of England's four-volume treatiseGerman Timepieces of World War II, Siegerin was one of several manufacturers of wristwatches for the Kriegsmarine (KM) during WWII, one of which is pictured in Volume 2 at page 38. This watch is serial numbered 132074, which according to Ulric is one of the lowest serial numbered KM wristwatches found by him. Ulric states that the watches "conformed generally to design criteria...with a matte silver dial, a simple 60 minutes outer ring and black hour numbers,...standard 60 second subsidiary counter ring above the 6 o'clock position." [Page 38] Ulric goes on to state that watch cases were produced in brass with a heavy nickel silver-plated finish with a press back case. [Page 40].The watch is in fine running condition and was reconditioned for me by a Rolex-certified watchmaker approximately 25 years ago (see his mark in the inside of the back of the watch case). There are faint markings by other watchmakers which are shown in the images below, just above the small case part number. As is correct for the Siegerin watches, the movement is 15-jewels and has been RUNNING for several hours when the images were taken and this listing launched. Aside from the typical minor salt sea air pitting on the dial and case, the watch is in fine condition considering the sea elements to which it was subjected and its 70+ year age. The watch did not have the leather band which Ulric states was standard issue when I purchased it, so I installed a OD canvas band which is shown in the images below.Here's an opportunity for the advanced KM collector to obtain an increasing rare timepiece for either his collection of for a re-enactor's impression.
